Direct-drive washers, diagnosed at your laundry room door.
LG washer repair in Charlotte, NC usually starts with a machine that is quiet, efficient and suddenly not cooperating. Many LG washers use a direct-drive motor mounted on the back of the tub, so there is no belt to snap, but there are rotor, stator and hall sensor connections that can act up after years of high-speed spins.
We drive to homes across Charlotte to test those parts on site, explain what we find without jargon and quote the washing machine repair before any work begins. If the numbers say replacement is the smarter move, we will tell you that too.
Spins with a rhythmic thump or will not reach full speed
On a direct-drive LG, an uneven spin is often a load-balance call the control board is making on purpose. When it keeps happening with normal loads, we look at the rotor magnets, the stator windings and the small sensor that reports drum position.
02
Water sitting in the drum after the cycle ends
LG front-loaders have a coin trap and pump filter behind a small access panel at the bottom front. Lint, hair ties and baby socks collect there; when a cleaned filter does not fix it, the drain pump motor is the next suspect.
03
Musty smell or black spots in the door gasket
The folds of the front-load door boot hold water between loads. We clean, inspect for tears and replace the gasket when mildew has worked into the rubber or a split is letting water drip onto the floor.

Example LG repair
[PLACEHOLDER: example case, not a real job — replace with a completed repair]
Example
LG front-load washer on a pedestal
Problem
Would not drain and stopped mid-cycle with a full drum.
Finding
Pump filter packed with lint and a hair clip lodged against the pump impeller.
Fix
Cleared the filter housing, tested the pump, ran a full drain and spin cycle before leaving.
Many LG washers use a direct-drive motor mounted on the back of the tub, so there is no belt. Spin problems on these machines usually trace back to the rotor, stator or position sensor instead. We confirm the design from your model tag before ordering anything.
Can you repair an LG WashTower or WashCombo?
Yes. A WashTower is one cabinet holding a washer below and a dryer above, and a WashCombo washes and dries in a single drum. Both need more careful disassembly than a standalone washer, so mention the format when you call and we will plan the visit around it.
Why does my LG front-loader smell even after I clean it?
Odor that survives a cleaning cycle often comes from water trapped in the door gasket folds or a slow-draining pump filter. Leave the door cracked between loads and clean the filter, and if the smell returns, we can check the gasket and drain path. Our front-load and top-load guide covers the basics.
